We'll start with the Bad News... we're going to skip a year and NOT have a Halloween issue this year. I know, I know, this is a huge let down to many of you and I realize how much many of you look forward to this annual event. But as I've often complained in the past the Halloween issue is always a huge undertaking on my part requiring several hours of work putting it all together. I hope you will forgive me for taking a year off when you read my reason for the hiatus and thus, the Good News.
The Good News is, I found a job! Yes, like millions of Americans out there, I've been out of work for the last 345 days, and unable to find a new job. That changed earlier this week when I got the call from a little company known as AT&T, you may have heard of them, who have graciously invited me to become part of their Customer Service team. I begin training on Monday, and I have much to do before then as this changes just about every aspect of my family's lives. I will go from part-time house-husband, and part-time Mr. Mom, to full-time bacon bringing homer and I have a LOT of preparation this week in order to make this drastic change. I'm excited at this opportunity to serve and protect our nation's largest telecommunication company. If you have cell phone service with AT&T Mobile and have issues with your bill (or fail to pay for your service), feel free to call me at work in a few weeks and maybe I'll be helping you out.
Meanwhile, I'll still be updating the standings on a weekly basis and hopefully be tossing in some random babble on this page as well.
Last week's picking trends: We got 37 sets of picks. 33 people correctly took Indy -13.5 over St. Louis and 33 people correctly took New Orleans -6.5 over Miami, while only 6 people correctly took Arizona +7.5 over the Giants.
And just for the record, 19 people took the Yanks over the Phillies, while only 10 took Philly to beat the Yankers. We'll see how that one plays out.
Good luck to everyone next week!
As a huge fan of Hot Dogs, it made me love rookie Jets QB Marc Sanchez even more when he was spotted chomping down a hot dog while on the bench near the end of the Jets huge blow-out win in Oakland last week. The bigger question than "Where did he get it from?" is "How did any food on the Jets sideline get past Head Coach Rex Ryan?" Is it possible that Coach Ryan is secretly carrying an entire Hot Dog cart under his shirt during games? He can't really be that fat, can he? He must have something hidden in there.
