It's the 7th Annual FBH Halloween Costume Contest Issue !!

Welcome to what has now become more than a ritual, more than a yearly occurrence, more than a spectacle, more than a feeling (even in Boston), more than a source of extreme stress to yours truly, it's become a downright pain in the ass.

No no no. I'm just joking. Seriously, it's actually a lot of fun putting these images together in hopes of entertaining you, my FBH Family. Over the past 7 years, what started out as a fun little concept has grown into an something that, I believe it's safe to say, everyone here looks forward to each season. And every year it becomes more and more difficult to come up with new ideas and new costumes for the same old heads. Yet somehow my creative juices begin to flow and I'm able to pump out more memorable costumes. Some make you laugh, some make you cry, some make you think, but every now and again, there's that one costume that makes you laugh so loud it makes the people in your office wonder just what it is that's so damn funny. I can only hope that this year is no exception.

Each year, I set out with a few goals in mind; make Roy look as silly as possible, embarrass Dave, and offend my brother-in law Ron. I believe I've accomplished all of those this time around. I wasn't able to use everyone, but we have a new contestant and I used that person twice. If you didn't get used this year, consider yourself lucky. There's always next year.

Last year, we had a huge number of entries. Too many, probably. Proving that quantity is not always preferable to quality. I hope to change that this year, as I've scaled back the total number of contestants. And while I'd like to sit here and tell you that this decision was based on statistical studies and opinion polls, I'd be lying. The reason for the smaller turnout this year is based simply upon the lack of time I had to devote to this massive undertaking. After 7 years of this, one would think that I would plan well ahead of time and start working on costumes well before October 26th or so. But for those who know me, you know that's never gonna happen. Earlier this week, I spent some time and put together a couple of costumes and formulated a few ideas for others. I collected some photos for those ideas, and stressed out over trying to get it all done in time to put together this page by Friday night. On Thursday night, I went to bed reasonably early, and when I awoke on Friday, just before Noon, I put a batch of CD's in the stereo, sat down and went to work, breaking only for a quick dinner. It's past midnight as I type this, and with any luck, the time at the very bottom of this page will read about 2 am.

Why am I telling you all of this? Well, I just hope that you will forgive me for the smaller amount of entries in this year's issue. However, I feel that I've done some really spectacular work today, and I feel that no one will be disappointed and that you will all enjoy what is to follow. Remember, the voting is open to everyone who views this page, and is relatively anonymous. Enough babbling from me! ON WITH THE SHOW!!   And as always...
