Current Standings
Off To A Great Start

The new season has begun and we've got a pair of early front-runners. Danny "Winfield Park's #2 FBH'er" Andren, who began the weekend with a 13-1 record before losing both Monday Night games, and none other than the Commish himself, Roy "Beatle-Boy" Bunting, both hit the ground running with 13-3 records in Week 1. Danny's 13-1 was possibly the best start FBH has ever seen. Roy was merely 12-2 before the Monday games.

Leontine "soon-to-be Mrs. Wouter van Zutphen" Honcoop posted an impressive 12-4 and finds herself in an early lead among not just European's but also Women. As the only European woman in the league, she pretty much has that fictional title wrapped up already.

Rounding out the Top 5 after Week 1 is BA newcomer and FBH-Cadet Kevin "Thurgood" Marshall, who along with old-timer Will "Maybe I can beat Beth this year?" Wong posted 11-5 records.

And making an early claim to the award that bears his name, with a 3-13 half-hearted effort, Dave "Better Red than Dead" Schwade is sitting all by himself in the FBH basement. Don't worry Dave, with my own less-than-stellar 5-11, I should be joining you down there soon.

We're missing quite a few FBH regulars after Week 1 and I'm hoping they just forgot to make picks and will be joining us again in 2009. I also got a set of picks without a name or email address and I have no idea where they came from. Please check the Current Standings and let me know if you submitted picks thru the site this past weekend but you don't see your name listed. I only listed people I got picks from or at least was told they were taking their defaults for the week.

Meanwhile, we'd like to extend an official welcome to our two newest members, both also new employees of Business Access. They are Kevin Marshall and James Breen. Rookies have done well in the storied history of FBH, so watch out for these guys to challenge this year. Kevin has already cracked the Top 5. As if the rest of us needed some more competition. <<sigh>>

Good luck to everyone next week!

Extra Points
Announcing: The Official FBH Blog

 Football Happenings has gone Blog!

(Sep. 2009) Those of us in the FBH-HQ haven’t been able to keep the weekly newsletter, well, weekly, so we’re trying something new this season. The Official FBH Blog is for EVERYONE and we encourage you to contribute and make the blog what it is (or whatever it will be). Everyone has the ability to create a new post or just add a comment to an existing post.

The Commish and the AssCommish will do their best to keep things updated, but please feel free to help us out. We're assuming most of the content that will come from us will be in the form of blog posts instead of this main page. We'll continue to use www.footballhappenings.com for the standard stuff, like current standings and of course the picks page and any major announcements that need to be made thru the season. I've put a big ol' link to the Blog Page among the icons at the top of this site to make it easy to find, or you could just bookmark it yourself (http://footballhappenings.blog.com).

Soon you should receive an email message inviting you to join the FBH Blog as a contributer (author). Follow the link, create a username and a password, and feel free to create your own posts. Anyone who goes to the site can post comments, but only those of you who accept the invitation to join the site can create new posts and upload your own photos. Everyone in the league will be offered this opportunity via email. I have to invite each of you separately so it may take a while to get out all the invites. But if you have not received the invite before the start of the season, let me know. Some invites might not go thru, and some of your email addresses may be outdated.

We don't plan for the Blog to replace this website, more like compliment it. We hope that having this Blog will make it easier for us to express ourselves to you. And it will make it easier for all of you to express yourselves to the group.

Now go post something, damn it !   :-)
